Field beans

The field bean, also known as broad bean is part of the legume family and of the subcategory papilionaceous plants. It´s an important crop rotation element in organic farming and is used as a high-protein legume, as well as for animal feed.
Soils with high water storage capacities and warm, sunny places are suitable for their cultivation. The one year old plant reaches a hight of up to two meters and builds upright to slanting kidney-shaped pods with big seeds, which can be dissolved out of the pods.
Field beans are high of fiber and protein and also deliver Vitamin B and multiple minerals as ferric, calcium and magnesium. Apart from being used as a traditional side dish to various meals, the usage of the high protein field bean flour in the production of pasta products increases.
